Operational, medical, customs, VHF and emergency information must be verified with the marina, port authority, yacht agent or official service before use.

Overview

Nassau is the main Bahamas superyacht gateway for customs clearance, charter logistics, provisioning, airport access and marina operations around Nassau Harbour and Paradise Island.

This guide focuses on Bahamas Customs Click2Clear, Atlantis Marina and emergency notes. Captains should verify marina availability, cruising permit status, charter rules, local weather and hurricane-season constraints before arrival.

Captain notes

Nassau is useful as a Bahamas gateway, provisioning stop, owner/guest transfer point and charter base. Captains should plan Click2Clear submission, cruising permit requirements, berth reservations, customs/immigration, provisioning and weather routing before arrival.

Bahamas Customs states that pleasure vessels are entered and paid for using the Cruising Permit Module within the Click2Clear system.

Marinas and berthing

Atlantis Marina publishes direct access from Nassau Harbour, 63 mega-yacht slips, a 100-foot-wide channel, minimum water depth of 12 feet at low tide, and largest slips of 220 ft finger piers with 37 ft beam. It also states that there are lay-along-side berths with no beam restrictions.

Other Nassau marinas may be appropriate depending on yacht size, route and charter plan, but berth suitability should be checked directly before arrival.

Port authority

Port, harbour, customs and marina requirements should be verified before arrival. Nassau Harbour movements, commercial traffic, pilotage requirements and marina approach instructions should be confirmed with the marina, agent or authority.

Customs and immigration

Bahamas Customs states that digital submission of pleasure vessels came into effect on 22 February 2021 and that all pleasure vessels will be entered and paid for using the Cruising Permit Module within the Click2Clear system.

The official Bahamas tourism boating regulations state that a cruising permit is required for all foreign, private, non-commercial pleasure boats and occupants to sail in Bahamian waters. Captains should verify current fees, forms, passenger/crew requirements and charter-specific rules before arrival.

Emergency contacts

Bahamas emergency numbers: UK travel advice lists 911 or 919 for ambulance, fire and police. The Royal Bahamas Police Force also lists police 911, 919 and +1 242 322 4444, and fire 919.

Doctors, hospitals and medical support

Hospital and medical-support details for Nassau have not yet been fully verified in this guide. Use 911 or 919 in an emergency, and confirm non-emergency medical facilities with the marina, yacht agent or crew medical provider.

VHF and radio notes

Nassau marina, harbour and port VHF channels have not yet been fully verified from official sources in this guide. Captains should confirm working channels directly with Atlantis Marina, the marina office, port authority or yacht agent before arrival.

Bunkering

Bunkering should be arranged through the marina, yacht agent or approved supplier. Fuel availability, berth access, customs status and delivery restrictions should be confirmed before operational use.

Provisioning

Nassau is a strong Bahamas provisioning and guest-logistics base. Specific suppliers should be selected from verified Superyacht Guide companies, yacht-agent recommendations and current marina-approved vendors.

Crew notes

Crew logistics should account for customs/immigration status, charter movements, airport transfers, marina security and island transport.

Refit and repair

Nassau is primarily a gateway, marina and charter-support destination rather than a major heavy-refit centre. Technical works should be verified with local facilities and contractors before planning.

Security and safety

Captains should verify marina security, local cruising notices, hurricane planning, customs status, tender movements and guest-transfer arrangements before arrival.

Seasonal and weather notes

Nassau is especially active during the Bahamas winter charter season. Hurricane-season planning, insurance restrictions, cold fronts, shallow-water routing and weather windows should be checked carefully.

Local rules

Bahamas cruising permits, customs, immigration, charter rules, anchoring and environmental restrictions should be verified through official sources or an experienced yacht agent before operational use.

Sources and verification

Batch 3 source notes. Initial operational research updated from Bahamas Customs, official Bahamas boating regulations, Atlantis Marina and emergency sources.
